Dr. Day Deans-Buchan (PM shift 1-3:30)

Dr. Day Deans-Buchan graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College 2003 and joined the Fix Healthcare team in the summer of 2015. A firm believer that the body’s structure and function work intimately together and so need to be treated together, Day loves that chiropractic is able to provide fast relief of muscular and skeletal problems. Working together with patients to help them attain their goals, Day helps to motivate change and support the process. She enjoys working with both elderly patients as well as athletes; it is as rewarding to help a person out of long term discomfort as it is to help a professional athlete ensure their body is the best that it can be so that they are able to perform at the highest level possible. Day believes in educating her patients and providing advice to empower them to become proactive and active in their own care. Day feels very strongly about work/ life balance. Spending family time with her kids while they are young is really important to Day, as is being active with them. Day spent her youth competing as an elite athlete and now enjoys the recreational side of sports, including running, hiking, skiing and cycling, and loves sharing these with her family.

Dr. Daniel Skinner (set up to take down)

Dr. Skinner joined the Fix Healthcare team after completing his clinical residency and working in a multidisciplinary, sports focused clinic in Portland, Oregon. Growing up playing competitive hockey, soccer, baseball (and pretty much everything else), physical activity has been a huge part of Dan’s life. Prior to pursing chiropractic as a career, Dan trained and raced bicycles as a Cat 1 cyclist, giving him a unique insight into the physical demands of a full-time athlete, and a real appreciation for a great manual therapist. Dan graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose California and during his time there worked extensively as an executive member of the school’s Sports Council. This allowed him the opportunity to work on and off the field with top-level professional athletes and weekend warriors alike. His experience with sports medicine and functional rehabilitation gives his patients confidence, knowing they are in the right hands. He believes that all patients deserve the best care possible and everybody is an athlete in their own right, even if your sport happens to be mowing the lawn or walking the dog. Dan has also acquired additional training and certification in Active Release Technique (A.R.T), Functional movement assessments, Graston Technique, Kinesiology Taping, and corrective exercise prescription. He combines this with a diversified, patient-centered approach to help his patients get back to what they love doing quickly. Dan is excited to return to the island and share his passion for active health care with his hometown of Victoria!
